Controlled Hunts

Cokeley Farms Controlled HuntsFor those who don't have the time, private grounds or budget to pack up and travel for quality pheasant or quail hunting, Cokeleys has the answer. For the past thirty-two years, we have offered upland game bird hunts for pheasant, chukar, and quail. In controlled shooting, the hunters decide which species of bird they prefer and the number they wish to pursue in the field. Many hunters tell us that they couldn't even buy the gas to go elsewhere for the cost of the entire hunt at Cokeley Farms.

Basic packages from which to choose.

  • Package #1 - $135.00 per gun; Includes 4 Pheasant or 6 Chukar, or 9 Quail
  • Package #2 - $240.00 per gun; Includes 8 Pheasant or 12 Chukar, or 18 Quail...a 11%. savings
  • Mix & Match - The hunter also has the option to mix and match, for the same money, so a two species hunt is readily available.  If a guide with a dog(s) is required, the guide fee is $50.00 which can be split between the hunters in the group. Tips are greatly appreciated, as the guides are self-employed, provide their own trained dogs and pay all their own expenses. Please try to evaluate these circumstances as you would in any tipping situation, however, tipping is optional and is between the hunter and the guide. Cokeley Farms receives no revenue from guide fee, guide tips or bird cleaning fees.

When your hunting party's birds are to be set, one member of that party rides with the bird planter to observe; giving the hunters an idea where the birds will be. Pheasant and Chukars are set so they won't fly off when released.

If you prefer to stay out all day or order more birds to hunt that's ok, we have no time limits on hunts. When you choose a Guide please remember most hunters feel tipping in addition to the guide fee is necessary for the hard-working guide.

As stated above, tips are greatly appreciated, as the guides are self-employed, provide their own trained dogs and pay all their own expenses. Please try to evaluate these circumstances as you would in any tipping situation, however, tipping is optional and is between the hunter and the guide. Cokeley Farms receives no revenue from guide fee, guide tips or bird cleaning fees. It's not only the time out but the time they have invested in the dog training to make the hunt successful. A cleaning facility is located behind the clubhouse for those who want to clean the birds. Birds can also be cleaned by the guide for a nominal fee.

Sporting Clays in NE Kansas

Cokeley Farms Sporting ClaysA round of Sporting Clays might be just the boost you need to tune-up for the following day's hunt. Sharpen up that shooting eye and ease those jitters. However, to many, sporting clays is a standalone sport, dicey and competitive. On a windy day, the challenge is unsurpassed by any other shooting sport.

Our course is fully automated with two traps at each station. During the cold-weather season, we have 10 stations in operation with 12 during nice weather. Targets are changed frequently to provide new challenges for our shooters. Some targets are set with limited difficulty to provide the new or novice shooter the chance to score as well.

The course, with stations that include targets over water, skipping rabbits across the flatland and simulated, high flying Teal launched from 30ft towers, is not only challenging, but taking in the countryside and the two large ponds adds to the excitement and beauty. We have a wide, gravel path winding through the course but if you cannot walk, you are welcome to bring a golf cart or any other conveyance.

The course is open all year round, seven days a week. Shooting hours are from 9:00AM to 4:00PM with Friday and Sunday being the discount days. Inclement weather sometimes makes access to the traps difficult, so call ahead if there is a question about weather conditions.

Additionally, we offer two golf carts for rental; just as with the weather, please call ahead to rent or take your chances. Join the thousands of satisfied participants in our Sporting Clays Park.

Turkey Hunting in NE Kansas

Turkey hunting in Kansas has really grown in popularity in recent years. The healthy and growing population of turkeys in Kansas offers hunters outstanding opportunities to harvest one of the toughest game birds around.

The Eastern turkeys is the dominant subspecies of the wild turkey in Kansas, however due to the extensive hybrid program funded and operated by Will Cokeley of Cokeley Farms, the  Rio Grande and Hybrid Cross subspecies are now being taken in impressive numbers in the Spring season on more than 5000 acres of prime turkey habitat at Cokeley Farms.

One of the highest scoring birds ever taken in Kansas was bagged by a hunter on our ground. The bird had 6 beards and scored a whooping 126 points. Another bird, taken in a recent season weighed in at 27 lbs., 14 oz. No doubt about it, we have the birds!! We are also privileged to have some of the best turkey guides in Kansas. In the last two seasons, we have had a success rate of 100%, which makes our two bird hunts an outstanding value.

Yes we offer Hunting Trip Packages with Lodging!"

Big Bucks Game Hunting - Just North of Topeka KS

Cokeley Farms Big Game Hunting

Kansas means BIG BUCKS!! With a tremendous gene pool developed over the past years by limiting the number of Big Bucks hunted and harvested we have been able to offer hunts for deer that have scored 150 to the high 190's.

Each year it seems the deer are bigger than the year before. Reports show there are still deer in the 190's still "walking the line".

The past season was very successful for the hunters. We offer both Archery and Black Powder and rifle season hunts. Cokeley Farms requires a payment in full at the time of booking the hunt. Talk to Will about the chance to take a BIG BUCK.

Due to very dry conditions the past two years, we have made the decision to further limit hunting, at least for the next year or two. But, this may change if conditions warrant, so feel free to call us.

Come on!! Join the ranks of hunters from all over the world who have enjoyed our hospitality and guided hunting on wild Kansas birds with their dogs and ours. Your dollar will go farther here at Cokeleys!

$315 per person per day includes...

  • Lodging
  • Continental Breakfast
  • Full day of hunting with a guide, your dogs and or the guides
